Who is Rashaad Hasani?

A soul man raised to be proud of his heritage and African ancestry. A Harlem & Queens New York native. He would hear the sounds of Jazz, Funk, Blues, Boogaloo, RNB, Hip Hop, Soul and House. This would be the soundscape of his household and neighborhood. A natural reaction was to move and sing to the music. In his latter years after being mentored, he discovered that all he experienced growing up was not a dance scene it was his culture. Picking up different cities traditions and customs and finding relation through the African diaspora, he would see the connections of music and dance across the US. From the Boogaloo out of Oakland to Struttin’ out of San Francisco, Locking from Los Angeles, Hip Hop of New York. It’s all interconnected so he celebrates them with respect and preservation in mind. To carry on the traditions and just as important, to carry on the tradition of being himself. That’s the mission, that’s his life, that’s what was passed on to him from his elders and lives in him through his ancestors. Rashaad Hasani is a soul man.
